Nearly 80% of transfer students at independent colleges either graduated with a bachelor’s degree within two years of transferring or are still enrolled.

In 2022, 1,768 students were enrolled at Michigan’s community colleges and subsequently enrolled at an independent college or university in Michigan that same year. Of these nearly 1,800 students who transferred, 79.5% were either still enrolled or had completed a bachelor’s degree within the two-year timeframe.

Of these students, 501 (or 28.3% of the initial total) completed a bachelor’s degree in the two-year period) while another 904 (51.1% of the initial 1,800) were still enrolled. Only 20.5% of the students who transferred were no longer enrolled or did not complete a degree from the transfer institution.
