Title IX Training Program

MICU, in conjunction with Barnes and Thornburg, is holding another Title IX Compliance Program for members. Last year we offered a program for members that provided a model (template) Title IX Policy to comply with regulations, with options and explanations for tailoring the policy to the individual institution. Training materials were made available for institutions to post on their websites, in accordance with the regulatory requirements. The training also included:

  • Helping investigators understand their new and different roles under Title IX.

  • Hypothetical fact scenario relating to investigating a complaint under the new regulations.

  • Helping adjudicators and advisors understand their new and different roles under Title IX.

  • Provide further training through a mock hearing, highlighting procedural and logistic issues, presiding over a hearing, making relevancy determinations, and handling cross-examination of the parties.

  • Training for Administrators and Title IX Coordinators regarding the new Title IX regulations, including assigning and performing the various roles under the new regulations, setting up processes and procedures, and modifying your institution's Title IX policy.

The training this year would be a refresher on the material from last year as well as new information, including what changes could happen under the Biden Administration, discussions about challenges faced on campus, and a question and answer session on both days.

Sessions will be recorded and made available to faculty/staff who are unable to attend. Session 1 will be August 12 9am-2pm and Session 2 will be August 18 9am-4pm.

There is a fee to participate in the training program (one fee per institution; however, institution can send as many participants as they would like). Please contact Shannon Dunivon for more information.
